Medieval UFO Encounters: Ancient Alien Sightings 700 Years Ago

UFO sightings have been reported in numerous places of the world throughout history. The existence of extraterrestrial life outside the exosphere is called into question by these unexplained aerial phenomena. For many years, the mainstream media has made numerous attempts to downplay UFOs’ significance and persuade the public that UFOs are part of some big hoax. However, UFOs have been made throughout history, from prehistoric times.

There are probably other prehistoric rock paintings similar to images painted centuries later in the 16th century Summer’s Triumph Tapestry and modern-day UFO reports. The Aboriginal cave paintings of the “Wandjina” spirits are another fascinating narrative of ancient aliens depicted in cave paintings.

Nevertheless, prehistoric paintings and rock art can be ruled out if they are mistaken for comets, stars, or planets in the sky. However, countless testimonies over the last 700 years suggest the possibility of UFO encounters.

UFO that saved Nichiren

Thanks to the appearance of a UFO that looked like a full moon in the sky, the famous Buddhist reformer Nichiren (1222 – ’82) avoided execution. Nichiren was just 13 years old when the first official investigation of a UFO incident took place in Japan in 1235. In 1271, when he was about to be executed at Tatsunokuchi Kamakura, Japan, an object that looked like a full moon appeared in the sky. The officials became panicked and decided to postpone the execution, and the famed monk lived for another eleven years.

William Of Newburgh (1136-1198) was an English chronicler best known for writing one of the most important historical works on 11th and 12th-century England. In 1290, when the abbot and monks of Byland Abbey in Yorkshire were eating, a ‘flat, round, shinning silvery thing’ flew over the abbey and ‘created the deepest dread,’ according to William of Newburgh’s Chronicle.

March 7, 1458, Kyoto, Japan
Five “stars” that appeared over Japan are mentioned in The Taiheiki: A Chronicle of Medieval Japan. They circled the moon three times, changing colors each time, and then vanished. The residents of Kyoto were so distressed by the incident that they ran and hid, anticipating the arrival of terrible disasters.

November 1, 1461, Arras, France: Hovering object
“A bright, long, and wide object appeared on the sky on All Saints’Day. It remained motionless for fifteen minutes. The weird item began to spiral upwards, then turned around and rolled over like a loose watch spring before disappearing in the sky.”,” wrote Jacques Duclercq, Philippe III’s legal counsel.

Columbus sees the light
Christopher Columbus and a crew member noticed a light alternately rising and falling at Guanahany, Bahamas, on October 11, 1492. ” Although the Admiral saw the light when standing on the quarter-deck, such a small body that he could not confirm it to be land. He called to Pero Gutierrez, broom of the King’s wardrobe about the light, and bid him look that way, which he did and saw it; he did the same to Rodrigo Sanchez of Segovia, the comptroller of the squadron, but he couldn’t see it from his point.

It appeared to the Admiral once or twice more, going up and down like the light of a wax candle, which some mistook for a sign of land. But the Admiral was sure that land was close, so after they had said the Salve, which the seamen are accustomed to repeat and chant after their fashion, the Admiral directed 10 3 them to keep a close eye on the forecastle and watch the land diligently, and he promised a silken jacket to whoever should discover it first, in addition to the reward that the King and Queen had offered, which was a ten thousand maravedis annuity.”

Nuremberg UFO Sighting 1561

A horrific incident occurred in Nuremberg on April 14, 1561, becoming one of history’s strange sightings. Several residents reported seeing many objects in the sky in various shapes (cylindrical, spherical, triangular) between 4 and 5 a.m. The scene was described as a dogfight. The things traveled across the sky, with some witnesses reporting seeing a black triangular object before hearing an actual collision coming from the city’s outskirts.

1566 Aerial Combat over Basel

December 5, 1737, Sheffield, England
“Below a dark red cloud was a luminous celestial body emitting intense light beams. The light beams moved slowly for a while before coming to a halt. Suddenly, it’s so hot that I took off my shirt even though I was outside,” astronomer Thomas Short of Sheffield, England, wrote.
On the same day, there was a similar object appeared in Romania. “A flaming red object appeared from the west in the afternoon. It broke into two sections after remaining in the sky for two hours, then rejoined and returned to the west.”

In 1783, a shapeshifting UFO was spotted over the skies of the United Kingdom

Four witnesses from the terrace of Windsor Castle in the English county of Berkshire saw a light object in the sky around 9.45 p.m. on August 18, 1783. Many individuals claimed to have seen it across England. Still, only seven witnesses were present at the Castle to document it: Thomas Sandby, a founder of the Royal Academy, his brother Paul, Tiberius Cavallo, Dr. James Lind, Dr. Lockman, and two unknown women.

The following year, the sighting was reported in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society (1784), which describes what the witnesses saw:
“An oblong cloud moved on the sky. A light object, which soon turned spherical, highly lit, and came to a standstill beneath this cloud, could be seen; this peculiar sphere appeared pale blue at first, but its brilliance intensified and soon set out again towards the East. The object then changed direction and moved parallel to the horizon before disappearing to the south-east; the light it emitted was immense, and it illuminated everything on the ground.”
